Bird Group -

Speaker: Rob Ganly  - "Birds of Batesford".

 

Rob has been carrying out surveys of the birds in the Batesford area for many years. This area has a wide range of bird species, and is located very close to Geelong.

Monthly Excursion - Biodiversity Survey
Sunday 15th November 2009. Upper Wormbete Creek / Paddy's Swamp area.

We will survey Darryl Hoffman and Rose Humphries property at 555 Bambra-Aireys Inlet Road. (5.2Km from the Winchelsea-Deans Marsh Road turnoff). The driveway is fairly long and winds through the bush. The property is located on the upper reaches of the Woormbete Creek. The survey site is a fern gully in messmate country. There is good access to the site.

Bring:  Lunch, morning and afternoon tea/snacks, mosquito repellent, water, walking shoes, wet weather gear/sunscreen, hat etc
Binoculars, hand lenses and reference books are useful.
Trevor will set mammal traps on the Sunday and check them on Monday and Tuesday

Meet at 9:00am at the Eastern Gardens to car pool or at the site at 10:00am.

Note: Excursions are cancelled on days of Total Fire Ban.

 

Mid-week Bird Group Excursion -

We have kindly been granted permission by the owners to again visit this property west of the You Yangs. It contains interesting habitat and provides the opportunity to a range of "bush birds"

 

Meet: 8:30am at the Corio Village carpark, southwest corner, adjacent to the Gellibrand St / Goulburn Av intersection.

OR

9:00am at the car park off Sandy Creek Road (VICRoads Ed.6 map 77 H9). We will walk in from the car park.

 

Bring morning tea and lunch, drinks, wet weather gear, a hat and sunscreen, binoculars and sturdy shoes.
Finish time approximately 1:30pm.
