GFHG LIBRARY
 

  • The GFHG Library has been transferred to various new locations: the Bellarine Historical Society [c. 1000 items], the Geelong Heritage Centre [c. 460 items], the Geelong Regional Library, and the GFHG Research Officer.
     
  • The GFHG Research Officer has access to all items and locations for Research Requests.
     
  • GFHG Library Catalogue [items at Bellarine Historical Society ONLY]

ACCESSING the GFHG Library

  • Bellarine Historical Society: check location and opening hours.  There is a small entrance fee for adults, children free.  Current financial members of the Bellarine Historical Society or the Geelong Family History Group are admitted free.
     
  • The GFHG Research Officer has access to all items and locations for Research Requests.

USING the GFHG Library Catalogue

  • Fully text searchable Acrobat file [221 Kb]
     
  • Sort order: Title
     
  • Call numbers: include grouping code and consequently location of items in the library:
    CEM = Cemeteries
    CHU = Churches
    LOC/GEE = Local History, Geelong region etc.
     
  • Out for indexing: check - if this appears after the Call Number then the item is not available at the Bellarine Historical Society until this flag is removed
     
  • CEM items: many are indexed and/or transcribed - see Geelong & District Cemeteries
     
  • Indexed:
    in the Geelong & District Book database - searchable online
    in the Geelong & District Potpourri database - searchable online
    in the GDHA Churches database
