2007 Fishing Reports

Members have been fishing all over the bay with some good reports on Snapper from around the spoil ground, Fawkner Beacon, Rickets Point.

Berlying needed to be done quite heavily to get the best results.

Members have been fishing Lake Eppalock with best meathods being Yabbies on the bottom and Jackall lures cast into the trees

Members have been fishing from Rye to Porsea landing reasonable size squid

It seems that the reports from the bluefin at Portland have gone off due to fish moving towards Tassie and bad weather.

Reports from Bairnsdale is that the Bream have been a bit quiet and now with the rain the rivers will become very dirt down there.

Flathead are plentyfull around mud island

Bream are still being landed in the Curdies river by some new members upto 1 kg in size

It has been a while since our last report but hope to get them back up and going

The club had a trip to Warrnambool last weekend to the Hopkins river. The river was extremly high and was difficult to try and launch a boat so we thought we would head back to the Curdies river and try there. Overall all members got fish and some good ones amongst them. Photos below show some of the fish caught. The competition was won by Allan Moore with a bag of 10 fish and a weight over 8kg Second was Tim Plummer with 5kg and the biggest being 1.2kg and third Russell Conway with a bag of 2kg.

Club mebers had a trip out on the sharks from Barwon Heads last weekend with all 12 people landing a shark which was great news. They caught both Mako and Blue sharks with the majority being the blues around the 70 mtr line off Torquay

Members have been fishing off Werribee and StLeonards landing plenty of good sized whiting

Plenty of couta and Aero Squid out off Barwon Heads and along the coast

Some of the lucky members have been over to Tasmania fishing the lakes and had great success landing a lot of fish in the 1.5-3 kg size

These are some of the reports from club members who had been away over the christmas break.

Good sized Pike are being landed off StKilda

Kingies to 3kg are being caught of Black Rock

Snapper to 4.5kg and garfish off Point Cook are being caught.

Good Flathead and pinkies in the top lake of Meribula

Big flathead at Bemm River in the Channel, with perch and bream being landed in the river

The odd marlin is being landed off Bermagui on lures

Eildon is well down with a few reddies being landed on lures.
