Stephanie,

I can really sympathize with the every 2 hour thing. Glenn did that until
he was 4 months. I started putting a little rice cereal in his night
bottles at about 3 months, and that helped space the feeds out (not by much,
though, and he had a little trouble with constipation).

I hope I don't tread on your toes, but I would really consider getting a 2nd
opinion on your doctor's orders.

#1 Babies have natural hunger. They eat when they're hungry. They stop
when they're full. Glenn was taking well in excess of 40 oz at 12 weeks.
He's still a bottomless pit when it comes to food, and he's not gaining
weight at all (1 lb gained in 3 months)!

#2 Not sleeping through the night at 12 weeks isn't abnormal. I couldn't
get Glenn to sleep more than 2 hour stretches until he was 4 months. By
then, we were such zombies, that we finally gave up and turned him onto his
tummy to sleep. He has slept through the night, 12 hours straight, ever
since. I worried about SIDS when he was younger, but quite frankly, I was
so sleep-deprived, I really didn't stay awake worrying!

Todd and I took turns getting up with Glenn so that each of us would get a
solid night of sleep (pretty much) every other night. This helped us
survive the last month when we were really pooped!

I'm glad Nicholas is doing so well. I hope you guys catch up on your sleep
soon and that your new schedule is working out for you!

Take care!

Suzanne (Mom to Glenn, 34 weeker, now 8.5 months and loving it!)
