Nicholas Over Eating

     Hi Everyone,

Nicholas went to the dr. Friday for his 12 week check up (3 1/2 weeks
corrected). It was the first visit we stretched to one month and boy
was the dr surprised. Nicholas was 12 1/2 lbs. (born 4 lbs 6 oz on
March 23) and the doc asked how much he was eating.......welllllll...I
told the doc that we were basically letting him call the shots, and he
was eating over 40 oz a day. (I didn't know this was a lot!!!!) And
he wakes up every 1 1/2 to 2 hrs a night. So, our doc set us
straight. He said that generally he doesn't like his babies to go
over 32 oz a day, and that he needs to be sleeping through the night.
So, he said to give him one bottle at 11:00 and let him cry if he
wakes during the night, or cuddle him, but don't feed him. He also
said a little water was okay. He also said he could probably go on
solids in 2 months. We were thrown for a loop by this, but glad to
have some structure forced on us, since we are DELIRIOUS from lack of
sleep. Anyone else have any experience with over feeding?

Otherwise, he is doing great! He had his first assessment since being
in the hospital with the Regional Center O.T. and she said he looks
real good, just low tone in his head and neck, but nothing to be
concerned about right now. (of course I panic).

     Talk to you all later!

Stephanie, mom to Nicholas, 31 weeker, now 12 weeks.
