I too can not imagine how a NICU can force a mother to pump. This like many
decisions we make regarding our children are personal ones. I do have a
funny story about pumping.
I was sitting at the kitchen table pumping ( I foolifhly thought I'd have
privacy) when my 8yr old came in with hos 4-5 friends . They wanted to swim
ot something. When he saw m startled face they stopped in their tracks
before they passed the half wall and we were all embarrassed. After I asked
them to wait outside, while I moved into my room, I overheard my son telling
them why I was weirder than normal and proceeded to show them our stash of
breast milk in the freezer.(Icould get 21/2 8ounce bottles on each side) I
heard one boy say "Wow that's pretty cool I wonder if my Mom knows how to do
that?!"
my son said "If not, my Mom can show her, it seems pretty easy " :) :)
