I was the same way. When Zach came home from the hospital a week before
Thanksgiving, everyone thought we were nuts to take him to family's house for
dinner.
yes, he was still on O2, but we had the doc's OK.. Of course had there been
sick people or anything, we would not have gone. I think this was the first
step at treating Zach like any other child.
I think parents of preemies (myself included) often shelter our children. We
can't help it. But eventually, we are able to treat them like ano other
child. it just takes a little longer for many of us.
