We were told by our neurologist and pedi that the majority of preemies have
an under-developed nervous system stemming from the premature birth. Some
preemies as they grow continue or develop sensory problems such as tactile
defensiveness or low tolerance to pain whereas others develop a high
tolerance to different stimulus such as pain or noise. Each child is
different and only time will tell how each child adapts to its environment.
Therefore, please do not compare your child to a "non-preemie" or to another
"preemie" because your child is unique.
