Of the two children, Justice was by far the sickest for the longest time.
Between the blood sticks, IV's, frequent tranfusions, lumbar punctures,
liver biopsy, hernia surgery, etc. etc. he got so he couldn't stand to
even go into a doctor's office. Once I did manage to get him there, I had
to tell them not to put that crinkly, loud paper on the table or he'd freak.
He couldn't stand anyone touching his feet or hands and still has visibly
scarred heels and tops of his hands. He is *much* improved now at age 3 years
5 months, but doc visits are, fortunately, very rare these days.
Destiny is a hard case, rough and tumble tom-boy. She can take some tough
lumps and never shed a tear- unless she sees a drop of blood.
I have often wondered if they are the way they are because of their early
experiences.
