This subject is very interesting to me. My first triplet, Rachel, was born
at 26.5 weeks. Her sisters, Blair & Emily at 28 weeks. Rachel had far more
complications, (transfusions, ROP & eye surgery, lung disease, heart line,
vent, infections, iv antibiotics, etc.) Her sisters mainly needed to "feed
& grow". Rachel has always been much "tougher" than her sisters with pain,
illness or whatever. It takes a lot to make her cry, and she usually
doesn't... she is such a trooper. We just figured that it was lucky that
Rachel was the firstborn because of her feisty personality, the other 2 may
not have had the "fight" that she did. But if these are characteristic of
other preemie children, maybe her experiences made her this way? No way
to know for sure, I guess, but it's very interesting!
