Wow. I must have the most laid-back pediatrician in the world. Sarina came
home from the hospital on her due date, 6 days before Thanksgiving. When I
asked the pediatrician about taking her to my parents for the holiday, (2
hours away), he said, "Why not, I would if it were my child." Being our first
child, we did not question him. Sarina did just fine, she was a real
trooper. Being also in the middle of a Wisconsin winter, I was going a little
nuts being in the house all the time, so we made frequent trips to the mall
during that first winter. Believe it or not, she didn't even get her first
cold until the following summer. Germs are everywhere, and some of the most
germ-cautious parents I know have the kids who are sick all the time. I'm
pretty relaxed when it comes to germs, yet my kids are never sick. Go figure.
