So many of the group have this problem to some degree that I thought I would
share my mother's experience. When she had a hysterectomy in her late 40s it
was discovered that she had a completely divided uterus. This helped explain
her reproductive difficulties -- 4 miscarriages and a lot of bleeding with
all her pregnancies. On the other hand, she somehow managed to deliver 4
fullterm healthy babies. The OBs theorized that if a baby implanted in one
side of the uterus, it would make it. It was all a roll of the dice.
Because of her tendency to miscarry, my mother was treated with DES during
each pregnancy. It was the wrong solution to the wrong problem, and one that
may have passed the tendency for poor reproductive outcomes on to her
children. At least this mistake isn't being made anymore!
