My husband and I have a girl, Gabriel Anae. She was born on April 22, 1996
at 26 weeks gestation. She weighed 1 lb. 13 oz. I was put on bedrest 3
weeks prior to her birth because of mild contractions and I was beginning to
dilate. A week later I was hospitalized and had several large doses of mag
over the two week period trying to stop the contractions. Finally my
placenta abrupted and she was born 30 minutes later via emergency c-section.
Fortunately over the two week period I was given steroid shots to help her
lungs develop. Apparently it helped because we have not had any problems.
We feel very blessed that we have not had the ups and downs many of you have
had to go through. She has been stable from the very beginning. She was off
the ventilator after just two weeks but they did have to put her on c-pap.
She continues to do well and they expect her to be off the c-pap very soon.
she is now weighing in at 2 lbs 7.2 oz!! I am enjoying reading about others
who have had similar experiences. Best wishes to you all.
