Karo syrup works for us and they LOVE it. Also, I sometimes add a bit of water to their bottles which tends to soften things up. Things got a bit better after they went off the extra iron, but they needed it for anemia as well. I wouldn't take them off the iron until the ped okays it and you have another CBC. Good luck.
