The Family Voices website is an excellent source of information -- in particular, it has links to information re the Katie Beckett waiver.
I wanted to point out that this waiver is not available in all states and in many states the waiting list is years long. When you call to inquire as to whether the waiver is available in your state, be sure to ask about any other programs they may have. We discovered that many of the case workers were unaware that these programs existed. There are a number of programs that can enable a disabled child to receive medicaid. When income exceeds the SSI requirements a disabled child can still qualify for benefits. In Texas you may qualify under the Chronically Ill and Disabled Children Services, the Medically Needy Program or the Medically Dependent Children Program, just to name a few. Many states have their own variation of these programs.
