Hi. My daughter also had strabismus surgery. She was 13 months old actual/10 months corrected. I have to second what Angela said about getting someone who performs the surgery on a regular basis. Our dr. did surgery at least once a week and he was excellent. Julianna had both eyes done and was outpatient also. The actual procedure was about 60 minutes under general. Then she was placed in the recovery room for about an hour. Then we took her home. The only thing I want to add is that your childs eyes will be very light sensitive for a few days following the surgery, so you will want to keep your son inside the house with the blinds closed. Oh, one more graphic detail, Julianna had bloody tears for a first day of the surgery and that is normal.
Best of luck,
Melanie and Julianna who is now 18.5 months going on 3!
