Peter (my 24 wk preemie) is my third child. I am a happy working mom. My first two kids attend a daycare care center -- but with Peter we are looking for a nanny/babysitter. Then, one kid in preschool and the two little ones at home. Because of my job (which is fairly flexible and not overly stressful) this will work for my family. Finding a nanny has proved harder than I thought -- but for us it is the right decision. Peter can then get the attention he needs (and deserves), as well as his toddler sister. We can be more relaxed because of the germs and not having to get more than one kid out in the morning.
Basically, you have to find the right solution for your family. Could you find a part time position as a NP? Maybe a big practice would welcome a "fill in" or evening or weekend NP.
