Well, the last few days have been the hardest of our life. An autopsy was performed on our son Monday, but we will have to wait 6-8 weeks for the lab results to find out exactly why Max was so sick. I took my wife to the doctor for a follow up checkup, she seems to be fairly well physically. I also went to the funeral home to arrange for my son's ashes to be placed in an urn, so he will be able to come home to us for a while. I think my wife and I will find a nice spot at a beach and let him go, when we are ready... I was able to get the funeral home to obtain some of our baby's hair, which I put in a locket and gave my wife tonight.
She wanted so bad for me to take her to the funeral home, so she could see her baby again, but I had to lie to her and tell her that he was already cremated, since I don't want her to go through any further pain (especially since the autopsy scars might be pretty painful to her).
I hope everyone knows how lucky you all are with your children, even with many of the symptoms preemies have. We would give anything just to have our Max back..
Thanks to all who have posted your support, I figure that my wife and I have hit rock bottom, and there is nowhere to go from here but up. Life goes on...
