Our Max passed away peacefully in his mothers arms at about 4:00 this morning. Its been a short but long struggle, of course we are devastated. I'm so glad we found this support forum and really appreciated all the kindness shown in the responses from our previous posts last week. Max just didn't take to the high frequency ventilator and his lungs became over-inflated, they tried switching him to a conventional ventilator last night but the pressure of his lungs on his heart was too great, causing a cardiac arrest. He was revived for long enough to spend his last hour with me and my wife. We made the decision not to prolong his agony.
