Hi everyone,
Well, we've made it to 30 weeks and Kai and Abi are still holding their own. It'll be 4 weeks tomorrow since Kai's membrane ruptured. I think my babies are doing better than I am, sigh. An ultra sound on 8/4 measured the babies at slightly more than 3 lbs. From what I've seen here, that's pretty wonderful for twins at this gestational stage. If I can stay pregnant for 2 more weeks, my perinatoligist wants to do an amnio on Abi to check her lung maturity. I've had 4 series of betamethasone shots and will have 2 more sets by then. If her lungs are mature, they will do my c-section then. All of my doctors ae getting concerned because they've never had a patient go so long with ruptured membranes and they're worried about infection. Also, they can't do any internal exams to check for cervical changes so they have no idea when I might start to bleed from my placenta previa. I am a time bomb waiting to explode! ARGGG! They keep telling me I won't be pregnant much longer...as if that would comfort me?? On the other hand, this living from one moment to the next, wondering when that horrible thing that will make it better for my babies to be on the outside rather than in will happen is really wearing on me. I just keep telling myself they are better off inside right now and I try to stay pregnant as long as I can. Reading about all of your little ones really helps me not be too terrified about the time when everything changes and I go from being pregnant with twins to being a mom of preemie twins.
Thank you everyone, for sharing yourselves and your children with those of us who are new to "the Preemie Zone." You give us hope.
