Just to add Tessa's success story... Tessa was diagnosed with BPD early in her life ( I think it was before day 14), she was a 27 weeker, and we received a lot of mixed info. from docs. The final verdict, IMO is that they just don't know, each child is different. She also had pnuemonia, very common.
She was vented for about 6 weeks, came on on oxygen, got RSV at about 3 months, stayed on the oxygen til about 6 months and is now a healthy, happy nearly 3 year old who is healthy as a horse. She's the only one in our family who doesn't get the same cold everyone else gets. go figure.
