Arching, sensory integration

Trevor used to arch all the time, actually throw himself off my chest while
I was holding him. Seems that behaviour disappeared for quite a while but
had reappeared recently as he becomes more independant. For instance, if he
doesn't want to get his diaper changed he will arch his back while lying on
the floor. I was impressed this weekend with how receptive he was to
eating (anything), having his teeth brushed and face and hands washed. I
still cannot get him to pick up a piece of food from his tray and put it in
his mouth though. He just picks it up and drops it over the side onto the
floor. He will allow me to guide his hand to his mouth, but not for very
long. I think three times in a row is the record. By the way Tammy, you
must be thrilled with Taylor. I thought about you a lot this weekend as
Trevor chowed down. I remember what a battle feeding used to be for us and
I really feel for you. I am still somewhat frantic about Trevor's lack of
physical coordination in terms of crawling, standing and walking and I do
envy Taylor's ability in this area. I put a blob of applesauce on Trevor's
tray this weekend and he did put his fingers in it a bit. Of course he
didn't put his fingers in his mouth. But he didn't flip out either. I
really feel that the joint compressions and brushing are working. How long
have all of you others been using this therapy? Cynthia.
