Thanks to everyone who sent me subscribe instructions! :) I made it.
I thought I'd introduce myself, though I do know a couple of folks who are
subscribed.
My name is Shelli and my husband Daniel and I have a beautiful little boy
named Joshua. We just celebrated Joshua's 2nd birthday earlier this month and
we are looking forward to the terrible two's. (We're already seeing signs of
temper tantrums! LOL!)
Joshua was born at 30 weeks gestation weighing a whopping 4lbs-5oz due to my
gestational diabetes (I shudder at the thoughts of what he would have weighed
full-term! though I'd gladly take that instead!)
Joshua spent 2 months in NICU with the inevitable apnea/bradychardia and with
NEC scares (though he didn't have it) and feeding problems.
He came home and was a very healthy baby boy! Each time we'd visit the
pediatrician, I'd have to fill out a sheet describing his development.
Everytime I was told, he'll catch up, he'll catch up. By age 12 mo, he was
not sitting alone, rolling over, crawling, etc. He had been very stiff and
rigid -- and my research pointed to Cerebral Palsy. Finally, I asked the
doctor, "Could he have CP? I've read about it and that is what it sounds like
to me".. he said "yes. He has cerebral palsy" An MRI showed that he had
suffered a bleed at some point and we never knew it. ( I still am very angry
at the doctor for not telling me.. for waiting til I brought it up to say
yes.)
Joshua can now sit alone (prop sitting) and he has tons of adaptive equipment
to help him (walkers, standers, corner chairs, kid kart, whatever it takes!)
but he still doesn't roll over or crawl. We're working on that though -- he
gets PT/OT/Ed. Therapy and we attend Gymboree classes 4-5 times a week.

I look forward to getting to know you all! :)
