Hi All!
I too had HELLP Syndrome. (I'm noticing a common thread here...) MIne also
apeared as stomach discomfort. It took 3 days worth of calls to the OB's
office to get seen. Finally, they sent me to L & D and I was almost
discharged because I wasn't having contractions! The nurse had telephoned
the OB on call and I asked him what I was supposed to do because I couldn't
even keep water down! (Seems in all the telephoning, no one had mentioned
this to him.) I was transferred by ambulance to a hospital with a level 3
nursery, and my water broke in the ambulance.
The mag sulfate made me feel absoultely "round". I also had a lot of trouble
focusing.
There is a 25% chance of recurrance in subsequent pregnancies, and low doses
of aspirin is the lateset treatment.
The hospital ( a large Chciago teaching hosital) did have a high risk floor,
and all the rooms were private. I know many of you roomed with full term
moms, and I can understand how traumatic that must have been for you.
