Cynthia:

I couldn't let that one go by! While I was being given the epidural
for an emergency C-section because of fetal distress, the baby's
heart-rate dropped to 0. The doctor didn't hesitate and did the section
under a local. There was just no time to wait. The epidural began to
kick in after it was over. I got a glimpse of the baby before
they whisked him off to the NICU, and then they must have given me
something to make me sleep.

I know it sounds impossible, but seriously it
hurt no more than what was already happening. (I had gone straight into
hard labor, no warm-up contractions, with a placental abruption.) At
some point, pain becomes irrelevant. And they got that baby FAST!
