Hello everyone. We are Suzanne and Paul VanNote from Austin, TX.
Our precious girl Natalie was born at 27 weeks on May 30, 1995.
She was 2 lbs. 10 oz. and had a 2 month NICU stay.
I went into labor at 26 weeks and did the standing on head
routine and Mag sulfate for 6 days until my water broke.
They have no idea why I went into labor, I had been having
ultrasounds weekly, because of a previous stillbirth (which they
have no idea why) at the ultrasound specialists and they said
everything looked great. I had an ultrasound the morning I
went into labor and by that night I was at 3-4cm dialated.
She was delivered by a C-section after her cord prolapsed.
After that ordeal she has done remarkably well. She had no
major problems or hospital procedures, Just a blood infusion.
She came home on caffenine and an apnea monitor. She seems
to be a happy healthy little girl now at 10 months. She weighs
15 1/2 lbs. She is still on her apnea monitor and still has
heart slows. We are wondering if this is normal, and how long
is it O.K. to keep having them. All the books I have read
said they usually outgrow apnea by a few months past their
due date. She is getting quite mobile now and can yank her
wires right off her.
Thanks for listening.
