These insurance stories make me wonder how much hospital costs vary by
state or region. We were somewhere in the neighborhood of $226,000 with
the bulk of it for Justice (about $80,000 was for Destiny.) This covered
17 and 13 weeks, most in the NICU and about a month each in Special Care.
I never had any trouble with BC/BS but my employer kept telling me not to
worry, just wait for the open enrollment period. I shudder to think what
might have happened if I had taken that particular advice. What they
don't tell you about the baby or babies being covered for the first 30
days of life is that that only applies if the baby leaves the hospital
with you!
