Oh Ina. What wonderful friends you have. I was only hospitalized for 2
days before Trenton was born but I was frantic wondering how Mike would cope
at home. At the time Trevor was on 10.5 months old and I didn't know how I
could be a mommy to him while I was in the hospital. I was afraid that he
would forget who I was. On one hand I wanted to prolong the pregnancy as
long as possible (for Trenton's sake) and on the other hand I needed to tend
to the rest of my life. I spent the morning of my first day in hospital on
the phone arranging for all kinds of stuff to be done and sent etc. My
hosp. bed was command central. I am the first to admit that I am a bit of a
control freak. Also, I was lonely and bored out of my tree. I wasn't
zonked out on Mag. just the shakes from the Brethane so I was lucid and my
mind was going a mile a minute. A lot of residents did come in to visit
with me and chat about my case history. I was a bit of an oddity for them.
Probably if I'd been hospitalized longer, friends would have had more of a
chance to come forward. Once I got home from the hosp. somebody from Mike's
office sent something home to eat every night for at least a week. That was
great!
I want to tell you all something about Mike because I haven't mentioned him
much. He's the greatest! He has been by my side constantly throughout both
pregnancies. He was present at Trevor's delivery but unfortunately missed
Trenton's. He has never made feel guilty about anything. I have done
enough of that to myself. I've been telling him about this list and at
night I print off various letters for him to read. Ina's pedicure made me
remember something. While Mike was visiting one night in hosp. he noticed
that my feet were kind of stinky so he got a bowl of warm water from the
bathroom and proceeded to wash my feet for me. I had forgotten about that
until now and I'm glad that your story reminded me of that sweet act.
