Hi! My name is Cindi and I have a son, Nicolas, who was born at ~26 1/2 =
weeks gestation.

My pregnancy was a fairly normal; I had some spotting off and on =
throughout, so my OB-GYN put me on "limited activity". Turns out that I =
had an incompetent cervix, unbeknownst to me since Nic is my first baby. =
At a routine ultrasound, the doc discovered that my cervix was thinning =
out so I was rushed to the hospital. The wonderful perinatologist =
managed to keep me from going into labor for 10 days, even 5 days after =
my water broke!

Nicolas had to be on a respirator for 21 days - one week on, one week =
off. He had no other problems, however and came home 3 weeks before his =
due date. He is now 6 1/2 mos. corrected age and is crawling and =
pulling up to kneeling and standing. He also says simple syllables like =
ga, da, dee all day long.

I would really like to hear from parents whose babies were born at =
similar gestations and have speech delays. When were the delays =
detected? Were your babies saying syllables at 6 1/2 mos corrected age?

I would also love to talk with parents with babies currently in the =
NICU. I sure wish I had had someone to talk to who had been through the =
same experience.
