Patrick- What a great outlook!!!!
I think we need to understand what is happening when these "rude people" ask
questions about our beautiful babies. I am not the parent in our situation
(just a big sis), but I am SO PROUD of Terry, I would tell everyone I met
about him if they'd only listen. I've come in contact with these so-called
"rude people", too, but I love it!! I just turn around, so them my favorite
little brother, give 'em a big smile and tell them how special (and sweet
and strong, etc.) he is. They just don't understand, and most of them are
very nice people who would think as much of our little ones as we do, if
we'd only take time to give them a short explanation.
PLEASE don't go around hiding the most precious things in our lives!!! Can
you imagine what it would feel like to our little ones if they thought we
were ashamed of what had happened. They have enough physical problems to
cope with, they don't need their family messing up their psychological
health as well. Mind you, I'm not glad by any means that Terry has had such
problems. But why should I try to hide them? I think he is just super and
quite frankly, I'm not sure I would handle his situation with the strength,
grace and courage that he has.
The people asking questions just don't know what has happened. I think we
should be proud to tell them!
