Kim,
The usual two hours? What usual two hours? Our unit now permits families
a whole 15 minutes at the bedside per hour. Unless, that is, you get a
nurse who doesn't mind breaking rules. Then you get all the time you want.
Then she goes off shift for four days, and you get barracuda nurse who
loves rules and hates families. Then you maybe get to look in the window
for a few minutes.
And they wonder why parents of preemies are a little *tense*? Illness
alone is plenty enough to deal with, without tap dancing your way around
all the personalities.
