People touching your baby

I never put a blanket over Alex because he had a tendency to overheat. I
wore him in a Snugli and a hat on (remember that bad haircut?). I wanted
him to see the world after spending time in a white sterile environment.
I took him out every day. Still do. Also I lived in the city where the
regional NICU was so preemies were very common. Everyone you talked to had
a family member or friend who was preemie. No one ever tried to touch and
I didn't worry about it. I was so damm proud to have my baby home that I
wanted to tell the whole world! It would be different where I live now
in a small town. You make the front page of the local paper here when you
bring home your preemie. Catherine Hewitt.
