Just wanted to take a moment to welcome all the new guys.
To Judy, it's great to see that a big sis has such a interest. My Taylor has
eating problems too. Officially labeled as a 'food aversion'. We have
always been able to 'just barely avoid' a g-tube. At almost every appt. the
docs say, 'if he doesn't gain X amount of weight, we'll have to consider a
tube." He always just makes it. I have not had a great deal of success in
addressing his feeding issues. At three years old, he still refuses to eat
any sort of texture, and will not drink from a cup. His diet is mostly
Carnation Instant Breakfast, and pureed foods, with oil and sugar added to
everything. He has diffuculty moving foods from the front of his mouth to
the back, so even thick foods like mashed potatoes, he can't eat, (he gags
and then throws up).
To the Rossetter family, what courage you all must have. I lost Taylor's
identical twin at 25 weeks, so I uderstand your pain at losing Alexandra. So
do others in the group, I know there are a few others here who have been
through simular loses, we're here for that too.
I can't believe how much this group has grown in the short amount of time
it's been up and going,
Just goes to show what a great need there is for it.
One member asked if this would be a good group for parents still in the NICU.
I think that Tom and John can answer that. I'm sure the answer is yes.
I can envision a computer set up next to the breast pumps in the pumping
rooms of the NICUs, so the parents could log on and ask questions. It's
obvious that we have a wealth of information here. It deserves to be shared
with all those who need it.
Tammy, mom to Taylor and angel Alex, and to Travis, wife to 'home for the
moment' Gary.
