Weight and Preemie Look

Hi all,
While I don't have time tonight to introduce myself, I wanted to comment
on the above topics!
Regarding weight gain in the NICU, one of my daughters (twins) gained
weight pretty steadily after her first week. The other one had many ups
and downs, and often would lose weight. At 4 months (she was still
there), she suddenly lost about 3 oz. and they finally tested her for
lactose intolerance. Once she was on the soy formula, she took right
off. So make sure they look into everything. BTW, she was 1 lb. 6 oz.
at birth, at one week 1 lb. and at 1 year 12 lbs.
Preemie Look: Alyssa lost the look while she was still in the hospital,
while she never was chubby, she never looked as frail as her sister.
Nicole, in a way, still has the look, very long thin face, pointy chin
etc. She looks very frail, her skin is very translucent. The nurses
explained that her head was "reshapen" as it was "tied down" to the bed
for 8 weeks while she was on a respirator. Her sister was off the
respirator at 3 days and could move her head at will. She never had the
chubby cheeks or thighs, always very thin and spindly (still does!).
Anyway, hopefully soon I can sit and compose an introduction. Are there
any parents of almost kindergarteners out there?
