Is that a common thing? I was fortunate to have a room to myself once
I delivered but while I was in early labor I had to share a room with
someone who was waiting for a scheduled c-section.
Also, since it was a small hospital, the NICU room was directly across
the hall from the regular nursery. Every day new "normal" babies were
born and discharged. I cried every time I saw someone go home with their
baby and I felt like screaming at them "DON'T TAKE YOUR HEALTHY BABY FOR
GRANTED! DO YOU KNOW HOW LUCKY YOU ARE?!"
It wasn't their fault. I'm sure if I had had a full-termer I wouldn't
know what being a preemie parent was all about either. It was just
one aspect of Emma's stay that was more difficult.
Lynda (who will never again take a healthy baby for granted), mom to Emma, 3.5
and Shannon, 5 months.
