Tippy Toes

Hi all!
I have a fairly simple question. My 22 month old who is 20 weeks corrected,
walks on her tippy toes. Both my pediatrician and her PT seem unconcerned as
would I, except for one thing. She is extremely clumsy. She tries to run on
her tippy toes and without fail, she trips and crash, bang, boom! Should I
push the issue? I have heard stories of shortened Achilles Tendons due to
prematurity and am being to worry. Does anybody else have a tippy toe kid?
Shoes do not make the difference. She tippy toe walks with hiking boots on.
I also agree that your preemie is always a preemie. The differences may begin
to become less noticable, but problems will still occur and most doctors will
chaulk it up to some other reason. A while back, I had posted a letter on the
twins mailing list asking for a member of my MOTC who had her twins at 24
weeks. I received lots of support mail for her and I did forward it on. One
letter I received was particularly of interest. I will try to retrieve it and
pass it on. Apparently there is a conference that is held twice a year, once
in the west coast and once in the east coast. It is strictly for parents of
premature infants of all ages. The western conference is being held in
Pasadena, CA this year and I want to go. It is about 25 minutes from my home.
I beleive it is in April or May. If anybody knows more about the conference,
please e-mail me with more info.
Thanx,
Susan (Mommy to Katrina and Emily 5/11/94, 8.4 weeks early)
