Greetings to all! My name is Dave Scholz from Iowa City. I'm happy
to become a part of this group. Here's a brief summary of my
     experiences and interests:

In December of 1993, my wife gave birth to identical twin boys at 25
weeks gestation (twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome). Torrey was first
at 2 lbs 1/2 oz, Derrick was second at 1 lb 9 1/2 oz. Torrey passed
away 36 hours later, Derrick managed to fight and fight, and is now a
     happy and healthy 2-year old.

In February of 1995, we welcomed our third child into this world, a
beautiful, almost full-term girl (38 weeks), Corbin. Derrick and
Corbin are 13 1/2 months apart, so you can imagine how incredibly
apprehensive we were throughout the entire pregnancy. You should have
heard the enormous sighs of relief when she let out that first,
     musical cry.

I have joined this discussion group, in particular, to learn more
about speech development. More specifically, what I can do to help
foster my son's development, and how other 25 weeker's are doing or
have done in speech development. It is really the only area that my
son is still rather behind in. I'm confident he will catch-up, but I
need some support in this area. As a secondary reason for joining, I
have learned a lot in our experiences and would be willing to try and
offer support or answer questions to others who are going through or
     have gone through similar events.

     My address is dscholz@pmeh-po.pmeh.uiowa.edu.
