Foetal Hydrops

Hi, have just been speaking to a friend of mine that had a preemie same
time as I did and shared the N.I.C.U experience with me. She had
additional problems in that her baby had foetal hydrops - evidently the
survival rate of babies with this condition is minimal. She has asked if
any of you have come across this condition - what it does is cause a
fluid build up internally which causes pressure on all the organs - if
she had not given birth prematurely the chance of Lisa's survival would
have been much less as more pressure would have been put on the organs.

Please if anyone has any experience with this condition could you let me
know - so little is known of the disease and she is desparately trying to
find out more about it. When they intubated Lisa at birth, her throat
was so swollen that the tube damaged her larynx - she is now a beautiful
two year old with a permanent tracheotomy. (how do you all manage to
spell these technical terms).

Thanks, Ina
