re: speech delays

I read an article about a year ago that suggested preemies may actually
learn language faster than full-termers.  Something to do with earlier
exposure to "real time" sound as opposed to just hearing things through
the womb walls.  I wonder if that just applies to less-early preemies?

For instance, Em was born 7 weeks early, learned to speak right on
schedule to begin with and by 18 months had 50 recognizable words and
took off from there.

Is this common or is she just chatty?
