I don't know that this group is for me or not. When I subscribed it was an
error while looking for lostangels. I do have daughters that were born
early though. I don't know that they had any of the preemie problems that I
have read about.
I was carrying twin girls one with a heart defect. I was taking
tributeline(sp) from 26 weeks to keep me from delivering early. I went into
labor several times while on the medication and they always managed to stop
it. I was on bed rest for eight weeks.
On Saturday April 15, 1995 at 6pm I had a home monitering service nurse read
my strip and was told I only had 3 mild contractions. I had counted 10
medium ones. She told me it was just gas and to take some gas relief
medication. To make a long story short I was in labor. I delivered my
girls at 36 weeks. Once they were delivered they found them to be at an
earlier gestation. I was told they were probobly only 34-35 weeks.
They were both whisked away from me against my wishes to the nursery.
Kristen went to the regular nursery and Kayleigh went to high risk nursery.
Kristen weighed 6lb 3 1/2 oz and was 19 inches long and Kayleigh weighed 4lb
15 1/4 oz and was 18 1/2 inches long. They were large twins I was told.
Kayleigh was transferred to a children's hospital two hours away and family
went with her. I couldn't. I didn't see her again until she was 3 days old.
I held her when she was 4 days old for the first time and last time.
Kayleigh went into cardiac arrest four hours after a supposedly successful
surgery and passed away.
Kayleigh is missed daily. Kristen is doing well. I am not sure how she is
with developmental milestones though. Doctor's sais she was doing fine and
then quit saying anything. She is 10 months now and not crawling or
walking. She rolls everywhere she wants to go. She has a hard time when
putting weight on her legs. She seems to not be able to put as much weight
on her left leg as her right. Is this normal? My son was walking at 9
months and sitting at 5 months crawling at 6 months. He was eating all
table food at 11 months and out of his crib at 12 months. He was speaking
in small sentences at 11 months.
I know we can't compare her to him but is she doing ok? I just wonder
sometimes if maybe I just baby her to much. I don't know. I could just be
being stupid.
Nice to be meeting all of you out there in the world of cyberspace.
