Hi.My name is Anne. I am the mother of a four year old named Jacob.
He was born at thirty weeks. He remained in NICU for 5 weeks after
his birth. He was on an apnea monitor for about a year. There are no
noticable problems that he has right now. He is my only child, so
developmentally, I really didn't have any other child at home to
compare him to, only books and magazines that I read and children at
the day care he attends. After a while I tried not to read any
magazines about what a baby should be doing at a certain age. It just
didn't apply to my child. When he was three, he had several of what
appeared to be seizures. He had an EEG which was normal and he hasn't
had any seizures since then so I'm not really sure what was going on.
I do recall that we had to work on his fine motor skills quite a bit.
Cheerios were quite helpful in that area. He is doing great now! He
recognizes numbers and letters, counts to forty, colos, sings, dances,
and knows all the planets in the solar system. I think that a daycare
setting has helped him a great deal. He has been potty trained a
couple of months now (he turned 4 in January).

     Anne
