Gender Affirmation And Liberation (GAAL) is a community support and social group that aims to provide a safe and supportive environment for people that are mutually in the process of gender affirmation or who have already affirmed their true gender/sex to share experiences and relevant information.

GAAL is not aimed at people who are just exploring their gender identity although we do offer referral to suitable services and support groups that do deal in this issue. GAAL is about support for anyone who is affirming their gender identity or already has.

We also have social occasions that are outside of the regular support group meetings where we actively encourage the participation of friends, family, partners and also other support groups

We hold regular meetings on the third Monday of each month at a venue in South Yarra.

Why are we born male or female? Am I really a boy? Or a girl? Most people probably question these things only a few time sin their lives, if ever. However, some of us have questioned these things all our lives, and have reached a point where you need to do something.

If this is where you feel you are, GAAL can provide peer support, information and referrals that can help you on your way. As well, there's often nothing more rewarding or helpful than meeting others at a similar point in their lives.

Many of our members have gone on to live fulfilling lives in their affirmed gender as well as offering peer support to others that are just starting on their journey.
