This course of study recommences its programme in 2008.
The course provides participants with a rigorous working
of the fundamental concepts underpinning Freudian and
Lacanian theory and clinical practice. It forms an important
component of the theoretical aspect of the training
of analysts and the ongoing work of the analysts of
the school.
The Seminar of the School is also open to students,
scholars and colleagues in related clinical fields,
in recognition of the importance to psychoanalysis of
its extension beyond the clinic.
The Seminar may be undertaken as discrete units.
The Seminar takes place at the
Amrep Education Centre, Alfred Hospital, Wednesdays
from 8.00 to 9.30pm. For further information contact
Robyn Clark, Convenor of Seminars, (03) 9600 9222.
THE PRESENTATION OF PATIENTS
The presentation of patients represents an encounter
between Lacanian psychoanalysis and institutional psychiatry,
addressing itself to the limit to psychoanalysis that
psychosis poses. As such it forms an integral part of
the Seminar and of the clinical teaching of the School.
At these meetings an interview of a patient is conducted
by an analyst of the school followed by discussion of
what has been heard by the audience.
In 2008, the School will continue to conduct the presentation
of patients in conjunction with the Alfred Hospital
Psychiatric Services.
