Gala Day 2011

INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS

The Committee in it's wisdom, offers the following information to both new and older members of the Club in order that we may all have some knowledge as to what we are about.
Our Club has been operating for a number of years,at least since at least 1973 with its primary purpose being to play golf and to provide social interaction between members.

To that end, your committee arranges 12-13 events annually, including a weekend away to the Murray River (every October).

MONTHLY GAME

Games played during the year are either "Stroke Events", "Stableford", "Ambrose" and "Par".

Trophies and/or golf balls are awarded for: -
  • Winner of the Day (who also receives a total of fifteen Championship points).
  • Golfer of the Month - awarded by Committee.
  • Longest Drive.
  • Nearest to Pin - Par 3's.
  • Most Putts (Stroke rounds only).
  • Least Putts (Stroke rounds only).
  • NAGA (Not a Golfer's A..... Hole).
  • Best visitor.

BARBEQUE

At approximately five games during the year, the Club supplies a BBQ for members, a simple fare of steak, sausages, hamburger and bread.

The Cock group of players except for the Cock are on cooking duty and these members are expected to cook and assist in cleaning up after the event.

Beer and soft drink is also supplied by the Club and purchased by members on the honour system, where you pay for what you take. Should you fail to pay, you are taking money from fellow members, as the goods are purchased with your money (Club funds) and any shortfall is taken from these funds.

FUND RAISING

Money for operating the Club (i.e. buying trophies, paying for "Gala Day" the Eagle's Nest, public liability insurance and other subsidies) is raised from: -

  1. Annual fees
  2. Games fees that includes a levy for the BBQ when applicable.
  3. A levy of $0.20 per player per game for the Eagle's Nest.
  4. A beer and ball raffle held after each game.
  5. A fine session held after each game.
  6. Club Sponsorship.
  7. Kind member donations.
Your support of (4) and (5) above is essential in order that we keep (1) and (2) low as possible. In order to make the fine session entertaining as possible, your input is very necessary.
If you wish to become a club sponsor, or make a donation to the club please see Steve Thiele, or any committee member.
