Likewise, the suggestion that F1 is a showcase for tobacco sponsorship is a red herring. Around half the field does not rely on tobacco sponsorship while tobacco advertising is prohibited for many races. I went to the race this year and I shall never forget the twinkle in the eyes of men, women and children around me when the Formula 1’s took to the track. It was a great family outing with many people using it as an opportunity to catch up with friends and relatives from interstate and overseas. Thanks to the organisers - I had a ball.
