AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The
re-establishment of female only psychiatric wards in each mental health
region of Victoria. For women and girls to choose whether admission is
to a female only or mixed sex psychiatric ward.
The
establishment in all Area Mental Health Services of permanent and
comprehensive female programs which address female psychiatry which
differs significantly from male psychiatry. Also, female only teams are
especially needed,. where work of the Area Mental Health Service
involves visiting females at home such as Crisis Assessment and
Treatment (CAT)
The establishment of more female only
Psychiatric Disability Rehabilitation Support Services (PDRSS)
Especially accommodation services which cater for mothers with children.
More
permanent and comprehensive female only programs in PDRSS. Such as
innovative day programs which cater for the interests and circumstances
of females with mental illness issues
These
female services need to be in addition to existing services.So that
statewide we have enough appropriate places in total
As a
priority issue the re establishment of inpatient psychiatric wards for
female with mental illness issues who are pregnant
These
services be managed and staffed by females who are committed to the
real empowerment and human rights of females with mental illness issues
The establishment of the Female Mental Illness Issues Centre
