The following pages are a simple organization of the documents kept by the family of Albert Carter, an Australian soldier who fought in France during the First World War. The links at the top of the pages will lead to a digitized list of the items.
From the record supplied by the Australian War Memorial Archives Albert Hopperton Carter joined the Australian Imperial Forces on 7.6.1916 as a Private in the 4th/2nd Pioneers. On 12.11.1916 he proceeded overseas to France to reinforce the unit. Albert Carter was wounded in action in France on 29.9.1917. He returned to Australia as a Lance Corporal on the ship [HS Fort Denison?], disembarking on 13.11.1919. He was discharged from the Army on 22.3.1920. |
