Linda Longley designer of the Ercildoune Garden:-
" The garden has been designed to reflect the style of gardens in the
era that 'Ercildoune' was first built. Gardens weren't made to appear wild and natural - they were shaped and created by human hands. The Victorian facination with many varieties of plants has been mimicked in the choice of plants and layout of plantings. But most of all the garden at 'Ercildoune' will be a clourful retreat where one can share a cup of tea or contemplate the complexities of life, in my belief the real purpose of all good gardens. "
