Waratah Fencing Project

The Waratah Fencing Grant Project has been completed. The Friends of Kurth Kiln thank the Waratah Group for supporting in such a practical way our endeavours to preserve the native bushland around the Kurth Kiln Picnic
Ground. Conservation around public places is always a controversial issue, as a compromise must be
reached between people’s understanding of their right of use of public property and the need of care
for the environment and of preservation. With the installation of the Waratah Fence around the upper
perimeter of the Kurth Kiln Picnic and Camping Ground we feel we have achieved such a balance.
The fence blends in well with the bush environment and (at least at this stage) seems to appropriately
affect the campers’ behaviour.
