There are many child care facilities in the Flemington area. These can provide various programs for families that are unable (due to work, study or illness) to care for their children all day. Some facilities are community-based, some are council-managed and some are commercially-based.

It is a good idea to contact your local community centre or neighbourhood house to see what they have to offer in terms of child care and playgroups. Also contact Moonee Valley Council's Early Childhood Support Service for information and advice; telephone 9243 8717. Maternal and Child Health Centres

The Maternal and Child Health Service is for all families with children from conception to six years of age. The service offers support, guidance and information on maternal wellbeing, parenting, children's growth, development and behaviour, family health, nutrition, immunisation, safety and accident prevention. The service is offered through individual consultations, home visits and group activities.

In Victoria, all babies born must be notified to the municipality in which the mother lives, and a Maternal and Child Health Service nurse is notified and will contact the new mother. Interpreters are available.
